متن کاملBiliary bile acids in cholelithiasis and colon cancer.
The role of biliary deoxycholate as an endogenous colon carcinogen and the possible association between cholelithiasis and/or cholecystectomy and the subsequent development of large bowel cancer is unclear. This paper describes biliary bile acids analysis performed on 13 patients undergoing cholecystectomy for gall stones, 10 patients undergoing colonic resection for colon cancer, and eight con...
متن کاملBiliary aminopeptidase-N and the cholesterol crystallisation defect in cholelithiasis.
Several biliary proteins have cholesterol crystallisation promoting activity. One of these glycoproteins is aminopeptidase-N, a canalicular ectoenzyme. This study attempted to localise aminopeptidase-N along the biliary tree, to assess its concentration in a series of 98 patients subjected to abdominal surgery, 40 of them without gall stones, and to correlate its concentration with cholesterol ...
متن کاملBile Peritonitis following Surgery for Biliary Stones
Surgery for gallstone disease is becoming common because of increased prevalence and due to universal applicability of diagnostic investigations like ultrasound and its extensive use which was not available in past. Surgical methods like open and laparoscopic cholecystectomy are safe and complications arising out of such procedures have become uncommon due to increased awareness and expertise a...
متن کاملBiliary atresia associated with meconium peritonitis.
Biliary atresia, malrotation, meconium peritonitis and transient hypothyroidism are occasionally seen in neonatal infants. Biliary atresia associated with malrotation has been reported in some patients with polysplenia syndrome, but biliary atresia associated with meconium peritonitis has only been described by a few investigators. Here we present a case of meconium peritonitis due to malrotati...
